Job Title: Machine Operator II – Sheetmetal FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt Department: Operations Supervisor: Production Supervisor Shift: 2nd What we are looking for: Sheet Metal fabricates sheet metal products and equipment. Work may involve setting up and operating machinery to cut, bend, and straighten metal parts to supply our upstream departments with parts they need. What you’ll be responsible for in this role: Operate all equipment in the sheet metal department, including brake presses, lasers, punch presses, sanders, and deburring machines Fill all part requirements to complete rounds for the kitting department Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, angle finders, protractors, and other measuring instruments Read and follow written and verbal instructions Read and interpret blueprints and work orders Perform appropriate preventative maintenance on equipment and tooling Examine finished work pieces for smoothness, shape, angle, or conformity to specifications and verify dimensions, visually and using hands, rulers, calipers, templates, or gauges Start machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly Monitor operations of machines and make adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications Work at different workstations as production needs require Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual’s product line or work cell Perform other duties as assigned
