About The Position

Job Title: Machine Operator I Shift: [Enter] Department: Fabrication Position: Hourly Essential Job Responsibilities: v Take sheets of tire repairs and place them in a press to cure. v Operate machines (i.e. electric Shaw press, injection press) v Must be able to tell time. v Carry trays of uncured repairs to press area. v Inspect quality of repair (patch). v Pull paper off of the cured repair (patches). v Write and calculate labor ticket(s). v Follow work orders closely. v Occasionally place sheets of drill cloth on conveyor or press to cure the drill cloth. v Record labor and inventory accurately. v Excellent hand-eye coordination is required. v Clean machines and floor. v Carry tubs of pressed repairs to their next destination. v Other duties as assigned. Supervision: Work independently, and/or with a team, with little supervision. Given: None. Education/Experience: High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and a minimum of one-year prior work experience. Communication Skills/Requirements: Able to read limited number of two-and-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to work and communicate with others. Mathematical Ability: Able to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Computer Skills: Must be able to enter information into a computerized screen. Reasoning Ability: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Licenses/Certifications: None Work Environment: Generally responsible for the safety and cleanliness of own work area. Carts available to help transport material. Press area is not air-conditioned, but is heated in the winter. Safety-toed shoes and safety glasses are required in this area.
