About The Position

This position will be responsible for setting up and changing over tools appropriately within the department; also for carrying out daily responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include setting up tools; changing over tools; operating machines; filling in for other operators when necessary; training employees; reading and interpreting schedules, job cards; blueprints, and specifications. To accomplish this it will require them to: Proficiently set up various machinery by changing tools and operating parameters. Operate various machinery in a safe, productive, and efficient manner. Read and interpret various written instructions – schedules, job cards, blueprints, specifications. Assist other employees in job set up, training, and operation of machinery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 6 months machine operation set up experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels.
  • Strong math skills required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to utilize standard measuring equipment (ruler, calipers, micrometer, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external personnel.
  • Ability to effectively utilize windows-based office software.
  • Ability to train operators to the responsibilities of the department.
  • Willingness to work in fast paced work environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Dynatect forklift license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe and courteous manner treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Be able to read and follow schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department(s), or work crew.
  • Follow standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Support the company with improvement projects with respect to continuous improvement and engineering.
  • Able to prepare equipment / tooling, changeovers and machine set-up as per production schedule.
  • Works as needed to optimize machine efficiency and part quality.
  • Maintains a safe workspace thru COPS initiatives and complying with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize materials for the department to make sure that inventory levels are adequate and not excessive.
  • Ability to create, fill out, and close orders appropriately to make sure that the inventory is correctly accounted for.
  • To produce quality and quantity of parts to meet departmental production needs in to avoid late orders to customers.
  • Examines items produced and machines and their settings to determine if items meet specifications.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to set up machines for other employees.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • All other duties directed by the management of the company.
