This position is primarily responsible for operating a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe and mill machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; and maintaining equipment and supplies. Essential Functions include reading blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). The operator sets up mills and lathes by installing tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices. They load or feed mechanisms by lifting stock into position and verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces. The operator maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. They maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations, and maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions. Additionally, they maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs, and document actions by completing production and quality logs.
