About The Position

The Machine Operator I - MI Cable position involves operating MI Cable Machinery in a safe and efficient manner to produce cables according to specifications and quality standards. The role includes inspecting raw materials and finished goods, adjusting machine settings, recording production data, and testing components and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards. The operator will also prepare components and materials for automation machinery, make necessary adjustments and repairs, and maintain good housekeeping practices while adhering to safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work over equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to follow instructions pertaining to the processing and testing of all machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Knowledge and application of measuring tools such as calipers, depth micrometers, torque testers, etc.
  • Skill in using basic hand tools.
  • Ability to differentiate types of materials, colors, practices, and applications.
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions which will minimize equipment down-time.
  • Ability to be a good team player, work closely with others to form a dedicated team spirit, offer training to others, and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift to 35 lbs.
  • 3+ years previous experience operating machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior Automation Equipment experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with MI Cable production processes is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MI Cable Machinery in a safe and efficient manner to produce cables according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished goods to ensure they meet company and industry standards.
  • Adjust machine settings to accommodate different cable sizes and specifications.
  • Record production data and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance teams.
  • Test components and finished goods using megohmmeter, low resistance ohmmeter, multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, thermal imaging camera, clamp meter to ensure all goods are being produced as per quality standards.
  • Prepare components and materials necessary to be installed in and utilized by the automation machinery.
  • Make necessary adjustments, repairs, and changeovers to equipment as needed.
  • Recognize problems with equipment and components on an ongoing basis and decide how they may affect the operation of the equipment and the quality of the products being produced.
  • Practice good housekeeping and extreme care while working around powered automation equipment.
