About The Position

The Machine Operator (1st shift) is responsible for the set-up, production, quality and maintenance of the assigned machine. The machine is hand fed by inserting the cut blank into the holder (grips) mounted on a sliding carriage, which is pushed into contact via a lever to engage the head to produce a threaded nipple. The operator sets up his machine by first identifying the material to be threaded and ensuring that the correct reamer is in place. S/he then checks the part through the use of assorted gauges, which give the correct depth and length of the thread. The operator also performs a visual inspection of the part for ream, facing, thread quality and overall appearance of the part. Any adjustments on the machine to produce a quality part are performed by the operator through the use of tooling, which includes an allen wrench, socket wrench, chaser gauge, chasers and the chaser grinder. The operator is responsible for the removal and installation of the reamer and grips and also the removal, installation and maintenance of the chasers. The chasers are maintained to performance through the use of the chaser grinder to sharpen, repair or change the degree of the angle. The operator maintains a clean and safe machine and work area. The operator must also perform required maintenance checks. All operators are responsible for keeping accurate production records, which are recorded in the computer planning system. The operator is responsible for meeting established production standards.
