About The Position

Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster. OVERVIEW: The Machine Operator I works closely with a small, cross-functional team of Engineers, Assembly Technicians, Fabricators, Designers, and Mechanics to produce high-quality machined components. This role is responsible for safely operating CNC equipment using established programs, loading parts, changing tools, and reading blueprints to meet production requirements. The Machine Operator I is expected to inspect their own work, document progress, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated to develop machining skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment while meeting quality standards and production deadlines with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience operating CNC mills or related manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings; familiarity with GD&T is a plus.
  • Experience using basic inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers, height gauges, etc.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn CNC setups, programming, and machining best practices.
  • Be a team player

  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for most of the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with CNC milling machines (vertical and horizontal).
  • Exposure to CNC programming; MasterCAM background is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Good understanding of CNC mills, tooling, and equipment.
  • Load and unload parts, change tools, and monitor machine operation.
  • Interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to use computers – general software, MS Excel, etc.
  • Follow instructions, work orders, and drawings precisely in an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Perform basic part inspection using common measurement tools to verify conformance.
  • Operate basic machine shop equipment – bandsaw, lathe, shear, drill press, etc.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Comply with all safety, quality, and compliance policies.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing area.
