About The Position

SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, sustainable world. The position is with ASPEQ Heating Group, a leader in electric heating solutions. As a Machine Operator, you will set up and operate machines to fabricate metallic parts.

Requirements

  • One to three months related experience and/or training.

Nice To Haves

  • A fully qualified Machinist will have completed at least eight terms of machinist courses at an accredited technical school.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Responsibilities

  • Design and/or develop tools, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • Develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
