To perform precision honing and internal finishing. May be required to assist higher and lower grade Operators.

  • Works from blueprints, shop routers, written and oral instructions.
  • Sets-up and operate Horizontal and Automatic honing machines to perform precision honing and internal finishing.
  • Set upper and lower limits, spindle RPMs.
  • Choose and set up the correct fixtures, mandrel, stone holders and stones.
  • Able to verify hole size using precision measuring tools.
  • Able to maintain and verify surface finish.
  • Able to set-up and use handheld honing equipment.
  • Responsible only for own work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
  • Requires knowledge of several different types of hone machines.
  • Requires a minimum of one year experience directly related to conventional honing or related CNC machines.
