About The Position

Machine Operator Assistants to support the setup, operation, and maintenance of corrugated converting machines. A successful Machine Operator Assistant is reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented in all job tasks. If you have some machine operation experience, good mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn and improve, our experienced Team Leaders will train you to be successful. Machine Operator Assistants work in small teams and are responsible for producing a variety of corrugated products efficiently and to the high-quality standards of our customers. Teamwork is essential in operating converting machines and meeting production schedules. This role requires close collaboration with co-workers, strong communication skills, the ability to work together to solve problems, and good organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Corrugated packaging experience is ideal.
  • Proven experience as a machine operator and/or experience in production and manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with familiarity and comfort in handling complex machinery and measurement tools (e.g., tape measures).
  • Ability to read and understand specifications, manuals, and measuring tools.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; a technical degree is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing experience is essential.
  • 1 year of corrugated converting experience required.
  • Experience in complex machine setups is essential.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to obtain a lift truck license.
  • Ability to interpret 2D drawings and specifications.
  • Strong basic math skills, especially fractions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in machine set-ups, including adjusting equipment settings and mounting printing plates and dies.
  • Monitor, control, and adjust machine settings and functions.
  • Review the daily production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing production to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
  • Inspect incoming corrugated paper to confirm job order specifications and ensure quality standards.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of output, downtime, quality, and scrap.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and/or monthly preventive maintenance activities and submit maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
