About The Position

The position involves operating machines to complete one or more processes in the manufacturing of exhaust pipe assemblies and components. The employee will be an active team member, supporting and performing all tasks within a cell group. Responsibilities include learning and performing preventative maintenance, setting up and operating machines, and rotating to all workstations within the cell. The employee must handle materials and tools, operate machines, assemble, and inspect products of varying shapes, sizes, and weights, all while adhering to quality, quantity, performance, and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, machine manuals, directions, charts, and safety regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and respond flexibly to problems and changes in job assignments.
  • Ability to work well with others and learn all jobs in the assigned cell group.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines to manufacture exhaust pipe assemblies and components.
  • Perform as a team member in a cellular operating group.
  • Learn and perform preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Set up and operate machines, rotating to all workstations within the cell.
  • Handle materials and tools, assemble and inspect products of varying shapes, sizes, and weights.
  • Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Maintain station control of operations, ensuring machine parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify production and quality problems and assist Team Leader with problem correction.
  • Complete daily safety check-off lists and perform job within safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and performance standards.
  • Follow machine repair procedures and complete basic repairs and adjustments of minor problems.
  • Perform SPC, visual and gauge inspections, and complete required forms.
  • Clean the machine and surrounding work area.
  • Assist co-workers at other workstations as needed.
  • Perform or assist in part changeovers and assist in 5S advancement and implementation of Lean principles.
