Mayzon is seeking a Machine Operator II to independently set up, program, and operate automated and manual woodworking machinery within the Wood Department. This position supports Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives by producing parts within established tolerances while minimizing downtime and scrap. This role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Overtime is paid in accordance with federal and applicable state laws. This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or technical support to Machine Operator I employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum two (2) years of machine setup and operation experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform advanced setups and changeovers
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and technical documentation
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety requirements
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate woodworking equipment including saws, routers, edgers, laminators, drilling and boring machines
  • Install and adjust tooling, automation components, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, bills of material, and product specifications
  • Perform machine programming adjustments where applicable
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and throughput
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or process-related issues and determine when maintenance support is required
  • Load and unload raw materials and verify material accuracy
  • Measure finished parts using precision instruments (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ensure finished products meet functional, cosmetic, and dimensional specifications
  • Complete production documentation accurately and maintain logs of output and scrap
  • Participate in preventative maintenance activities, including TPM tasks
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and all safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within scope of training and capability
