Requirements

  • One to three months related experience and/or training in machining or mechanical work experience

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and use measurement tools
  • Basic math and spatial reasoning skills
  • Completion of coursework in machining, manufacturing technology, or related technical program
  • Familiarity with CNC programming or editing
  • Welding experience or certification
  • Experience developing or using jigs, fixtures, and shop aids

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and NC/CNC machinery such as lathes, mills, grinders, shapers, and drill presses
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, manuals, and sketches to determine machining steps, tolerances, and dimensions
  • Mark, measure, and prepare materials using layout tools to guide precision machining
  • Install and align fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories for proper operation
  • Calculate machining parameters and enter control settings or CNC commands to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to address malfunctions or tolerance issues
  • Perform in-process and final part inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
  • Assemble machined components into finished assemblies, ensuring correct alignment and function
  • Conduct trial runs and test parts to validate machine setup and programming accuracy
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design or machining issues
  • Use welding equipment to fabricate or repair metal components (as needed)
