Operates a multiple of production machines such as saws, presses, drills, and other hand and/or powered equipment, as well as automatic presses and similar equipment which may require raw material to be loaded onto stock reels. A Day In The Life involves studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and limited setup requirements. The role includes measuring dimensions on workpieces, starting and running machinery to produce products, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting machine controls or control media as required. The individual will verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications, adjust and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data, test operation of units to ensure functionality and performance, and assemble products as needed.
