About The Position

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans and roll formers. Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble. Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts in timely manner. Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices, as necessary. Cleans and lubricates parts. Inspects completed repairs. Assists with facility maintenance and repair as needed. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have 2-4 years experience working in machine maintenance
  • 1-2 years experience in production/assembly

Responsibilities

  • Implements and adheres to prescribed preventative maintenance program which includes completing and signing off on documentation for our quality assurance program.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools.
  • Starts devices to test their performance – updates team to changes in equipment.
  • Able to adapt quickly to fix most important issue to keep a department running and then getting back to long range fixes.
  • Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Goal is to make repairs to original equipment specifications - consult with manufacture if fix is unknown.
  • Works under minimal direct supervision but accountable for daily communication on issues to supervisors, leads, and/or plant manager.
  • Use PPE as prescribed by the safety manager, included but not limited to safety gloves, hearing protection, vision protection, safety shoes, appropriate fitting clothing, etc.
  • Observe all safety requirements including but not limited to lock-out/tag-out, storage of hazardous materials, confined space, etc.
  • Communicates and cooperates with leadership to expedite the repair of all machinery and assets, including repair of the facility and grounds.
  • Assists with part inventory as needed.
  • Assists with training supervisors, leads, and operators as needed to reduce operation errors.
  • Responsible for training of new maintenance team members when needed.
