Overview As the entry-level function, this position performs routine PM (preventive maintenance) on production machinery, which may include hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, as well as machining centers. Works with clearly defined, established instructions and support from Unit Specialist or trainer, on preventive maintenance, coolant recycling, oiling, and lubing.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Technical background including: car repairs, farm equipment repairs, any level of machine repairs, or other experience performing mechanical tasks.
  • Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude with the ability to use (or learn to use) measuring equipment including inside/outside micrometers and dial indicators.
  • General working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new computer programs such as CMMS (CribMaster).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
  • Must also be able to interpret machine part books used in this position.
  • Must either hold HazMat certification or become certified within the first year of employment. All required licensures must be maintained and kept up to date.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis.
  • Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
  • Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
  • Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Supervisor, Unit Specialist, or trainer to learn basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning to production areas of the company that meet the performance, ergonomic, and safety standards.
  • Works collaboratively within the team to provide quality services.
  • Achieves and maintains machine maintenance standards, follows all safety guidelines, and maintains an acceptable dependability level.
  • Works with maintenance leadership and senior mechanics for direction on projects.
  • Actively engages and participates in the department's continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems.
  • Maintains maintenance records in a CMMS (Cribmaster), and orders preventive maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.
