About The Position

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. The Studio Media Algorithms team is at the forefront of innovation to enhance and support the vision of the creators of movies, TV shows and other multimedia work. This team's work is responsible for increasing member value, and driving efficiency of the content creation process, ultimately creating more joy for viewers all over the world. We are looking for a Research Scientist with demonstrated experience in generative computer vision (CV) and/or related areas such as computer graphics (CG) to research and develop algorithms and models that will be incorporated into the tools used by content creators throughout the production lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Research experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results and/or academic publications in top ML, CV, or CG venues.
  • Deep familiarity with modern generative model architectures, including diffusion models and/or autoregressive models.
  • Experience with the full stack of model development: data curation, annotation/captioning, distributed training, post-training techniques, and/or robust evaluation.
  • Expertise in designing and training deep learning (DL) and diffusion architectures for media generation, with a broad understanding of DL methods and literature.
  • Extensive experience with DL frameworks such as Tensorflow or PyTorch.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Great interpersonal skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Cutting-edge work on modern generative methods and their building blocks.
  • Expertise in 3D vision and/or graphics.
  • Industry experience in the content creation domain, such as animation, games, or visual effects, and a track record of developing tools/solutions in these (or closely relevant) areas.
  • Experience with tools for generative models, such as ComfyUI.
  • Computer graphics and VFX tools and game engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya, or Nuke.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prototype reusable algorithms for the full cycle of machine learning in the multimedia domain, such as data processing, feature extraction, distributed model training with GPUs, and deploying the produced models into production.
  • Design, train/post-train/fine-tune, and evaluate algorithmic solutions with applications in a variety of domains, pushing forward the state of the art in CV as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with machine learning engineers, product managers, as well as creative and business partners and stakeholders, to help define research directions.
  • Expand technical depth and domain expertise into new/adjacent areas as the business needs and the state of technology evolve.

Benefits

  • Annual salary compensation structure with flexibility in choosing between salary and stock options.
  • Market-based compensation range of $170,000 - $720,000.
