About The Position

The Machine Learning Engineering Internship at SoarTech offers an opportunity for interns to engage in the research, development, and deployment of advanced AI technologies aimed at solving complex military problems. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an in progress degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
• Experience and high proficiency at designing and implementing software components in Python, Java, and/or C++.
• A passion for working with Artificial Intelligence.
• Ability to analyze and solve challenging technical problems.
• Experience designing and debugging systems.
• Familiarity with task tracking and project management software, such as GitLab or Jira.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Software programming work experience in a similar scope, program, and/or environment.
• An advanced degree or in progress advanced degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge or experience in deploying ML models with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with common machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax.
• Experience with LLM frameworks such as HuggingFace.
• Knowledge of transformer-based autoregressive NLP techniques (BERT, BART, XLNet, etc.).
• Experience solving reasoning problems with LLMs.
• Familiarity with multi-modal LLMs (vision, audio, and other non-textual input).
• Experience with multi-agent, swarming and complex adaptive systems.
• Knowledge of sensor and data fusion.
• Experience in simulation and game development.
• Experience supporting development projects for defense or aerospace technology platforms.
• An active Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implements algorithms, knowledge bases, complex logic, and other AI technologies into new and existing systems.
• Collaborates with other engineers, project leads, and program manager to accomplish project goals.
• Helps senior engineers and scientists with modeling to turn data into real machine learning production systems.
• Applies software engineering rigor and best practices to machine learning.
• Supports the team with design of data pipelines and engineering infrastructure to support our platform machine learning systems.
• May participate in integrated test sessions with industry partners, academia, and customers/sponsors.
• Build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
• Supports documentation on software design, system design, and testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
