About The Position

APPLE INC has the following available in Seattle, Washington. Develop software
to run innovative machine learning systems in the cloud. Implement performant ML
based algorithms in a distributed system and keep up to date with best practices
and new technologies. Work closely with ML engineers to ensure their algorithms
can be deployed efficiently in the cloud. Build software to support batch
inferences for new large language models. Analyze and improve the job success
rates for batch inference jobs. Optimize efficiency of the pipeline to improve
throughput for large scale inference solutions. Build a scalable and efficient
system to improve utilization of high-performance GPU fleet. 40 hours/week. At
Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined
within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and
develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 -
$210,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications,
experience, and location. PAY & BENEFITS: Apple employees also have the

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
• Applying Golang to design and develop large language model batch inference service codebase.
• Utilizing docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration including AWS EKS or GCP to run batch inference service on the cloud infrastructure.
• Ensuring performance, scalability, security and maintainability when designing robust, large scale batch inference service.
• Utilizing ML Framework including PyTorch or TensorFlow to develop and optimize large language models.
• Applying foundation model architectures including Transformers, Encoder/Decoder to train, and fine-tune large language models.
• Utilizing MapReduce to develop efficient large scale data pipelines.
• Applying MLOps best practice to automate model deployment, monitoring, and continuous integration / continuous delivery.
• Utilizing hardware accelerators including GPUs or TPUs to maximize computational efficiency and reduce inference time.
