Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer - Sr. Consultant level in Austin, TX. The role involves developing and maintaining critical risk and fraud-detection applications and services, including idea generation, architecture, design, development, and testing. The engineer will design, implement, and manage machine learning-based security solutions to prevent customer attacks, ensuring continuous performance monitoring and issue mitigation. The position requires continuous iteration on machine learning models to enhance precision and recall, optimizing them to meet performance criteria in terms of accuracy and latency. The engineer will lead the end-to-end development process to deliver high-quality solutions that meet specifications, align with the architectural vision, and adhere to all applicable standards, covering all phases of solution development. Collaboration with project team members to develop and implement new data-driven AI/ML-based business solutions is essential, working with senior technical staff and Project Managers to identify, document, plan, track, and manage risks and issues. Establishing data governance and data management frameworks to efficiently organize and operationalize machine learning pipelines is also a key responsibility. The role includes constructing ETL pipelines using technologies like Spark, Python, HIVE, or Scala to process transaction and account-level data and standardize data fields from diverse sources. The engineer will experiment with and develop custom algorithms using state-of-the-art techniques for modeling and scoring, leveraging machine learning, data mining, and statistical methodologies. Communication of status, issues, and risks in a detailed and timely manner to relevant stakeholders is required, as well as presenting technical solutions in business terms to non-technical stakeholders. The engineer will provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members to enhance their technical skills and professional development. The position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
