About The Position

In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize machine learning systems that power large-scale search and question-answering experiences. You will work on improving retrieval processes, query understanding, and ranking models to ensure users receive the most relevant and helpful results. The position combines technical leadership with hands-on implementation, spanning semantic search, recommendation systems, and generative AI workflows. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to drive innovation, maintain system reliability, and scale solutions across global user bases. This role offers the opportunity to influence both the technical direction and user experience for high-impact search and answers products.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer, including building production-quality ML models using PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience with search systems, recommender systems, or large-scale query understanding pipelines
• Strong programming skills in Python or Golang, with experience in object-oriented design, testing, and monitoring
• Knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and relevant protocols (GraphQL, REST, gRPC, Thrift, HTTP)
• Hands-on experience with large-scale data infrastructure and workflow orchestration tools (Kubeflow, Airflow, BigQuery, Kafka, Redis, etc.)
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in technical strategy and product design

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance search retrieval pipelines, including lexical and semantic search models, to improve relevance and performance
• Build and deploy ranking models that optimize results across multiple user intents
• Implement query understanding systems using state-of-the-art ML models, small language models, and LLMs
• Apply generative AI techniques such as prompt engineering and fine-tuning to improve answers and search quality
• Generate features that enhance relevance, usability, and user engagement across search and recommendation interfaces
• Ensure pipelines are robust, with high uptime, low latency, and proper monitoring and evaluation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, platform, and data science, to define roadmap priorities and deliver impactful solutions
