About The Position

Patreon is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to support our mission of funding the creative class. This role involves conducting exploratory data analyses and developing proof-of-concept machine learning models to identify opportunities and assess project impact. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional partners, analyze and prepare training data, train and iterate on machine learning models, deploy models to production, and debug models to improve performance. The position is based in San Francisco or New York and requires in-office attendance two days per week on a hybrid work model.

Requirements

• Experience working in an end-to-end machine learning team environment.
• Proficient in writing clean and robust code in Python or other programming languages.
• Experience debugging complex systems with a systematic approach.
• Curious mindset with the ability to dive deeply into datasets.
• Solid communication skills and ability to write clear documentation.
• Growth mindset with a desire to continuously improve soft and technical skills.
• Passionate about building systems and empowering creators with new machine learning solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct exploratory data analyses and proof-of-concept machine learning models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as product, engineering, design, legal, and trust and safety.
• Analyze and prepare training data, including using crowdsourcing data labeling techniques.
• Train and iterate on machine learning models using novel techniques.
• Deploy machine learning models to production and write backend code when necessary.
• Debug models when observability shows performance gaps and iterate on models.
