The Machine Apprentice must be able to perform numerous tasks as the Line Tech sees fit. He must pay attention to the roll quality as he puts the rolls on the skid. He must apply himself on a daily basis to learn the film manufacturing process, as well as safety and quality issues. He must be able to work as a team player with the rest of the crew and other employees. He must be able to work safely and professionally around all moving equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work safely.
  • Ability to understand/communicate English in oral and written form.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability and willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Ability to work a PM shift.
  • Ability to wear all PPE (personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toed shoes
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, hear and speak English proficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Take rolls off of spindle, check roll edge quality, and properly stack rolls onto skid.
  • Load and align cores properly onto the spindle.
  • Assists in weight check procedure.
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning procedures in a timely manner.
  • Wrap pallets properly on a daily basis.
  • Assist Line Tech on start up and shut down, on changing screens, and cleaning die.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
