The primary purpose of this position is to maintain district wide HVAC and low temperature refrigeration equipment in order to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community. The role involves diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in various types of HVAC, Building Automation Systems, and refrigeration equipment, as well as maintaining preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all related equipment.

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of HVAC, Building Automation Systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, Building Automation Systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform repairs and/or new installation as requested on approved work orders.
  • Recommend when refrigeration assistance should be obtained from outside sources.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and district-owned tools, equipment, and materials including maintaining coolant dispensing records.
  • Respond to emergency calls and make repairs as necessary throughout the duration of the work shift.
  • Receive and complete work orders; maintain accurate records on material and labor used to complete work orders.
  • Plan out work daily and perform work independently as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations with the Building Automation System.
  • Assist the Building Automation Coordinator with night and weekend audits to systems operating outside of parameters.
  • Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
  • Correct unsafe work conditions and safety hazards in a building and promptly report to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with campus staff, administration, and other departments daily.
  • College hours, high school diploma or GED.
  • Texas Driver's License.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial HVAC and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge and skill required to operate and repair all equipment associated with HVAC and low temperature refrigeration maintenance.
  • EPA certification I and II (Universal certification preferred).
  • Texas State Contractors License Type B or ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal English.
