Job Summary MA/Surgery Scheduler schedules patients for surgery, tests, referrals, medical and cardiac clearance, pre-op tests and reviews meds and health history as needed.
Requirements
- Prefer one year of prior surgery scheduling experience and in a health care facility setting.
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant
- Knowledge in operating a computer and computer software (i.e: Microsoft office, EHR)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork.
- Scheduling patients for diagnostic tests (i.e bone scan, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI).
- Reviewing patients meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing.
- Scheduling appropriate medical and cardiac testing.
- Coordinates with the facility all ancillary services related to the surgery at the discretion of the surgeon.
- Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments.
- Obtain authorizations as needed.
