About The Position

As a dedicated LPN/MA, you'll play a pivotal role in providing crucial support and care to individuals navigating their mental health journeys. General Responsibilities: The LPN or MA works as part of the clinic provider team and assists the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician Assistant in the provision of primary health care. The LPN or MA provides limited direct patient services and performs specifically designated independent procedures. Safety Sensitive Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON)/Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved LPN certificate program or Certified/Registered MA program.
  • Current state LPN/CMA/RMA license.
  • Must be qualified in Basic Life Support Techniques.
  • Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to assist the providers.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to assist in establishing/maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and co-workers of the clinic.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examination, including the identification of the chief complaint, the taking of vital signs, height, weight, etc., and ensures smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Keeps ill patients comfortable until seen by a physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Assists the physician and family nurse practitioner in health care activities, performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures, and the administration of medications as necessary.
  • Conducts patient screening for hearing, sight, blood pressure, and other simple routine procedures and physicals.
  • In the absence of a laboratory technician, performs routine laboratory procedures, collects specimens, and prepares them for laboratory pick-up.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists with stocking the examining room and special treatment rooms with needed supplies.
  • Participates in the clinic’s quality improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of healthcare by keeping exam rooms, nurses' station, all equipment, and other work areas clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
  • Performs other necessary duties as required by the Director of Nursing (DON) to meet the goal of providing primary care services.
  • Properly documents all information related to the patient visit within the electronic medical records system. This can include, but is not limited to, chief complaint, medications, blood pressure, weight, height, etc. Also responsible for properly documenting all phone calls, including advice, patient refills, etc.
  • Supports initiatives such as Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Meaningful Use (MU).
  • Ensures clinicians' orders are carried out through referrals and order tracking, which includes being responsible for obtaining results and records from outside sources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
