JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Mon - Fri 8am-4:30pm; occasionally 7:30am - 5pm Summary of the Job : To provide medical assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner in a professional manner and to provide for patients in a caring, efficient and compassionate manner. To handle patient phone calls and care of patients in the office. Perform EKG's and CLIA waived test as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School diploma.
  • Must have good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
  • Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Must be able to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Displays tact and diplomacy in inter-personal skills.
  • Keeps BLS Certification current at all times.
  • LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school.
  • Current Licensed Practical Nursing license.
  • Maintains annual and continuing education credits; keeps license current at all times.
  • Medical Assistant: Accredited Medical Assistant Program Certification or equivalent on the job training consisting of 3 or more years.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience in a physician office setting preferred.
  • Physician’s office experience preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC (EMR) a plus along with insurance processes required within a clinical setting.
