About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. Archer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join Archer. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the M&P Engineering team. This role involves supporting our internal and external testing programs, including executing various material qualifications, and applying our materials and processes specifications to applicable FAA regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have hands- on experience with mechanical testing equipment, adhesive bonding processes, and composite materials.This intern position offers the opportunity to support both internal and external testing initiatives. Responsibilities include executing diverse material qualification tests and ensuring that our materials and processes adhere to relevant regulatory standards. We are looking for a candidate with practical experience in mechanical testing equipment, composite materials, and adhesive bonding techniques.

Requirements

  • Going into the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in college career
  • Familiarity with composite manufacturing, adhesive bonding, and epoxy resin systems
  • Familiarity with mechanical and analytical testing equipment and methodologies
  • Strong curiosity of FAA qualification requirements under 14 CFR Part 23.2260
  • Self motivated and driven to complete objectives
  • Strong written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in CAD tools is desirable but not required

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure materials and processes meet performance and regulatory requirements
  • Support various process development and material qualification programs, including writing test plans and the generation of test databases
  • Conduct mechanical testing on CFRP, adhesives, metals, and bonded joints
  • Operate lab equipment (wet saws, grinders, microscopes, test frames)
  • Perform bonding and composite panel preparation for small-scale testing
  • Record results, document best practices, and write reports as needed
