About The Position

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Licensed Vocational Nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to provide patient care through the use of the nursing process, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing and documenting basic physical assessments, recognizing deviations from normal, and reporting findings to the registered nurse or physician. Employees are responsible for completing unit competency assessments, annual safety reviews, CPR certification, and renewing their license by maintaining continuing education units as required. Successful completion of a clinical math exam is required prior to unit orientation, and other duties may be assigned. This position is not exempt from overtime pay.

Requirements

Acute care experience within the last two years is preferred. New graduates and licensed vocational nurses without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis.
Current California licensure or interim permit as a Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Current approved CPR (BLS) certification.
Current IV certification or completion within 6 months of hire.
Demonstrates the ability to work within a team model of patient care delivery.
Possesses proficient basic nursing skills and specialty skills.
Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with an RN/LVN as a partner in the patient care team.
Demonstrates the ability to delegate appropriate patient care tasks and duties to other non-licensed team members.
Possesses the ability and willingness to actively participate in process improvement activities.
Demonstrates a caring, compassionate attitude toward others.
Relates with patients/visitors empathetically and tactfully.
Maintains effective relationships with coworkers and medical staff.
