About The Position

Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses provide skilled nursing care, treatment and education to their patients in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, acute care, outpatient clinics and hospitals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Provides physical care and treatments, administers medications, collaborates on treatment plans, employs infection control measures, provides clinical referrals as appropriate. Monitors and documents patient health status including vitals, response to treatments and procedures, and additional observations as required. Assists in patient exams, communicates relevant medical information to the plan of care team. Counsels and educates patients on health goals and in accordance with the plan of care Collects specimens for laboratory tests, and performs routine tests on samples Documents in an accurate and timely manner to provide comprehensive medical records, including, but not limited to, medication, illnesses and transfers. Some positions may require the ability to lead/supervise the work of others Responds promptly to emergency situations to ensure the safety of patients and perform or assist in performing triage judgements and life-saving interventions. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility regulations Maintain medical supply and instrument inventories for plans of care, or upcoming procedures Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and visitors following communication and safety protocols Report all incidents, accidents, or potential hazards in accordance with established policies

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered and valid license as a Licensed Vocational or Practical Nurse from the Texas Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • Two or more years of full-time experience as a licensed nurse, experience in acute care is preferred
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA is preferred); Program must include in-person component
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Successful completion of an accredited practical nursing education program
