About The Position
As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at Dignity Health - Marian Regional Medical Center, you will be an integral part of a compassionate healthcare team, providing vital direct patient care that significantly contributes to patient well-being and recovery. Your daily responsibilities will include assessing patient conditions, administering medications, performing prescribed treatments, and meticulously documenting care. You will collaborate closely with Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians to implement individualized care plans, ensuring a seamless and high-quality patient experience. Success in this role requires exceptional clinical skills, a strong commitment to patient safety, excellent communication, a compassionate demeanor, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Marian Regional Medical Center is a 191-bed acute care, nonprofit hospital in Santa Maria, California, serving over 250,000 patients annually with a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, cancer care, orthopedics, and stroke care. It is recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer and is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, also being the only facility on the Central Coast to offer ECMO.
Requirements
- I.V. certification/approved course.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse: CA, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Responsibilities
- Takes vital signs, heights and weights. Records on appropriate charting form
- Reports observations regarding patient's status to the registered nurse. Identifies and responds to urgent/emergent situations.
- Assists in patient admission, transfer or discharge
- Moves, lifts, ambulates and transports patients safely.
- Assists physicians and nursing staff with assigned procedures
- Demonstrates proper aseptic technique
