About The Position

We are a Pediatric Day Center for medically fragile special needs children. We provide daily nursing care (M-F, 9:30am-5:30pm) in our facility for children ages birth thru 21 years of age who qualify for skilled nursing services. A Nurse providing services on behalf of a center will have at least the following qualifications and experience: A valid LVN license under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 301, with no disciplinary action Valid certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Basic First Aid; and one of the following One year of pediatric specialty experience with emphasis on medically and technologically dependent minors obtained within the last consecutive five years; or sufficient skills to meet the competency and training requirements. A Licensed Vocational Nurse providing services on behalf of a center will be responsible for the following: maintaining compliance with the standards of nursing practice; providing nursing interventions that includes parental training, information, and education to increase a parent's confidence and competence in caring for a minor; having knowledge of access to available community resources; participating on the IDT and in the IDT meetings regarding a minor's plan of care and progress; communicating findings to a minor's prescribing physician and an RN; and administering medication, intravenous infusions, parenteral feeding, and other specialized treatments; monitoring and documenting the effect of medications, therapies, and progress in accordance with accepted standards of professional practice.

Requirements

  • A valid LVN license under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 301, with no disciplinary action
  • Valid certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Basic First Aid
  • One year of pediatric specialty experience with emphasis on medically and technologically dependent minors obtained within the last consecutive five years; or sufficient skills to meet the competency and training requirements.
