About The Position

At Hi-Desert Medical Center (HDMC), we've been caring for our community for over 40 years. Our Continuing Care Center (CCC), located on the campus of HDMC, provides specialized care to residents close to their own communities, with spectacular panoramic views of desert landscapes for both residents and their guests. The Continuing Care Center has 120 beds and offers three distinct levels of service in semi-private rooms: Subacute care, Skilled nursing care, and Long-Term Care. The CCC provides 25 beds dedicated to residents with ventilator and tracheostomy requirements, and clinical staff is specially trained to meet the unique needs of these patients. The CCC is one of the few facilities in Southern California providing this level of care. The position involves evaluating patients on admission and initiating appropriate interventions for patients of all ages, with care delivered in collaboration with patients, families, and other team members. Responsibilities include effective communication, documentation, and participation in quality improvement programs.

Requirements

  • Post high school vocational/specialized training.
  • Current California Vocational Nurse license.
  • California IV Certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • 2-4 years experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in acute care preferred.
  • 1 year experience in an emergency department preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients on admission and initiates appropriate intervention for patients of all ages.
  • Prioritizes and completes procedures and interventions within 20 minutes.
  • Delivers care in collaboration with patients, families, and team members.
  • Identifies predictable problems and assesses patient's response to care.
  • Assists with exams and procedures without prompting.
  • Participates in PI program and meets deadlines for studies.
  • Documents all evaluations and interventions accurately.
  • Cleans and prepares treatment areas between patients.
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are in working order.
  • Identifies and intervenes on issues of patient, visitor, and staff safety.
  • Communicates effectively and keeps families informed.
  • Attends staff meetings and responds to inquiries promptly.
  • Gives department-specific in-services and attends required meetings.

Benefits

  • Up to $15,000 Sign On Bonus based on experience.
  • Pay Range: $23.00 - $29.03.
