About The Position

The LPN - School-Based Telepresenter plays a crucial role in facilitating telehealth services for students by utilizing telemedicine equipment to connect patients with healthcare providers. This position not only provides administrative support to the School-Based Telehealth program but also engages in public health efforts within the community. The Telepresenter serves as a care coordinator, helping families access essential resources and ensuring that students receive the necessary healthcare support.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

• Utilize telemedicine equipment to present patients to providers at MUSC or in the local community.
• Provide administrative support to the School-Based Telehealth program in assigned locations.
• Attend school and community events to promote the telehealth program and engage in public health efforts.
• Identify high-risk students and direct families to resources such as Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, and home energy assistance.
• Work closely with school nurses to identify students who would benefit from the telehealth program.
• Prepare the telehealth room, patient room, and equipment for examination.
• Test and check equipment to ensure safe working order.
• Establish connection with the remote provider and troubleshoot any technical issues.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about the telehealth visit and expectations.
• Document clinical information in the patient's electronic medical record, including vital signs.
• Administer medications as ordered by the telemedicine provider.
• Complete CLIA waived POC testing as ordered by the telemedicine provider.
• Review instructions or information conveyed during the tele-encounter after the session has concluded.
• Serve as a student and family advocate and care coordinator, connecting families to needed resources.
• Collaborate with school faculty and staff to identify and screen students for the telehealth program.
