About The Position

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Residency – July 2026 Come and join our LVN Residency Program! We invite graduate LVN’s to apply for this unique opportunity. The next cohort will begin on July 13, 2026. Integrated into a Hospital’s education structure, the Texas Health LVN Residency Program includes a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, a formal mentoring program, informative debriefing/self-care sessions and supportive 360-degree evaluations. Residents not only participate in the learning experience on their personally selected home units, but they also rotate/cross train through other departments to gain an expanded nursing experience vital to the complex patient care. The Texas Health LVN Program is a comprehensive, evidence based on-boarding program with a 15-month employment commitment that offers new LVN’s an exciting opportunity to gain the experience, judgment, skills, and confidence to successfully navigate the complexity of hospital life. Where you will be working: Work location\: Texas Health Fort Worth - 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104 Work environment\: Surgery PreOp & PostOp Work hours\: Monday-Friday-5\:00 AM-1\:30 PM Unit Description: The Pre‑Operative (Pre‑Op) Unit provides comprehensive nursing care to patients preparing for surgical and procedural interventions. This fast‑paced, patient‑focused area is responsible for completing pre‑surgical tasks ensuring all safety and clinical requirements are met prior to surgery. The team works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative RNs, and ancillary departments to coordinate safe, efficient patient flow into the Operating Room. As a vital member of the Pre‑Op care team, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supports nursing workflow by performing focused assessments, obtaining vital signs, reviewing medical history, completing required documentation, initiating IV access, assisting with diagnostic readiness (e.g., labs, EKGs), and providing reassurance and education to patients and their families. The LVN plays a key role in maintaining a calm, organized environment and ensuring excellent patient experience during the critical pre‑surgical process. Patient Population: Adult and geriatric surgical patients Outpatient and inpatient same-day surgery cases Variety of specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, ENT, urology, gynecology, cardiovascular and specialty procedures Collaborative, team‑oriented environment High patient turnover with strong emphasis on efficiency and safety Close partnership with PACU, OR, scheduling, and anesthesia teams

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program required.
  • Acceptance into THR residency program required.
  • Graduated within the last 12 months preferred.
  • Less than one-year experience at the time the residency begins preferred.
  • Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency preferred.
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
