About The Position

The LVN - Outpatient - Level II position at Kaiser Permanente involves providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The role emphasizes quality patient care, adherence to established policies and procedures, and effective communication with medical staff and patients. The LVN is responsible for executing various nursing tasks, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and supporting the overall mission and values of the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum twelve (12) months of LVN direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Nice To Haves

  • IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
  • Provide therapeutic patient care as established by physician/advanced practice providers and/or a registered nurse.
  • Transcribe physician/advanced practice providers orders as directed by policy.
  • Communicate with a registered nurse to institute changes in the plan of care and assist in developing nursing care plans.
  • Administer specified medication accurately following provider orders.
  • Execute treatments such as urinary catheterizations, IV placements, and suctioning procedures.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Perform patient care functions such as taking vital signs and wound care.
  • Assist medical staff with examinations and treatments by providing necessary support.
  • Observe and document patients' conditions and report unusual findings to the registered nurse/advanced practice provider.
  • Collect and process specimens per policy and procedures.
  • Provide non-complex teaching following the registered nurse/advanced practice provider/physician plan for education.
  • Ensure cleanliness of nursing module/station and proper functioning of patient care equipment.
  • Utilize effective verbal and non-verbal communication forms.
  • Perform departmental back-office workflows and assist in ordering supplies.
  • Support patient communication and message management.
