Position Overview The Health Center Nurse-LVN/LPT functions as a member of both the Health Center and Treatment Teams in a multi-disciplinary setting. The LVN/LPT provides direct and indirect medical care requiring substantial specialized judgment and skills based on knowledge and application of the principles of preventative, acute care and health maintenance services.

Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) diploma and Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)
  • Must be able to perform routine nursing tasks without assistance and independently use both a computerized and traditional clinical records system

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing nursing services to children/experience with adolescents is preferred
  • Experience in mental health preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct health care of children and counseling children on health care issues
  • Provides direct and indirect nursing care as required to meet the preventative, acute care and health maintenance needs of client residents
  • Responsible for nursing assessment, observation, intervention, and documentation of response to health care treatment procedures
  • Responsible for initiating emergency procedures as determined by agency policy
  • Performs skilled nursing tasks, including but not limited to dispensing medication, giving TB skin tests, and administering immunizations according to agency policy and procedures
  • Interacts with other members of the treatment team and attends/participates in cottage meetings and Treatment Plan Review meetings to develop, implement, and facilitate residents’ Youth Plan goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates an understanding of relationship-based/DBT-oriented, trauma-focused and culturally sensitive interventions.
  • Conducts and assists medical staff with scheduled clinics; obtains and monitors the proper use of prescribed medications and medical supplies as needed
  • Attends Treatment Team meetings, Treatment Plan Reviews and committee meetings as assigned
  • Provides specific in-service training as established by the agency in areas of general health issues, basic First Aid and infection control, as assigned
  • Responsible for follow-up between outside providers and internal members of the treatment team
  • Responsible for other job-related tasks as assigned by the Director of Health Services.
