The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is an individual with specific knowledge and technical skills to assist the Registered Nurse in providing care for a designated group of patients. The LVN utilizes the Nursing Process to provide therapeutic care to a specific population of patients, under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Primary job duty surrounds all aspects of medication refill management. Attends to prescription refill phone line. Proposes refill requests to provider in EMR ensuring 7 rights of medication safety. Initiates and completes prior authorization requests for medication as needed. Assists with diagnostic authorization requests and same day insurance verification as needed. Escorts patients to exam rooms, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list, monitors patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures, prepares patient chart with pertinent medical information, administers medication as directed by physician. Schedules diagnostic tests ordered by the physician as needed. Performs various administrative duties, including answering phone patient calls, returning phone calls, receiving and sorting in-coming faxes, obtaining prior authorizations. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Ensures exam rooms are clean and well stocked with supplies, checks for expired medication and supplies and necessary forms are available or services to be rendered. Must adopt Keck Service Credo and Known Service Standards and Values. Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology. Other duties as assigned.
