About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position at Sutter Health involves providing nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Nursing (LVN/LPN license).
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for California or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience in nursing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and medical procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data and instructions in various formats.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in home health and hospice care.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care activities considering age-related needs of the patient.
  • Assist medical personnel with special procedures and diagnostic exams.
  • Assess and monitor patients' condition and notify healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Report unusual findings to the physician and contribute recommendations for care plan revisions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to develop and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient progress and ensure care meets standards of practice.
  • Discuss patient findings with healthcare team members.
  • Prepare for and assist RNs and physicians in medical procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain equipment and understand procedures performed by physicians.
  • Educate patients on examinations and procedures to alleviate anxiety.
  • Mentor and support students and new LVNs in developing their skills.
  • Perform general clerical tasks related to patient care and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including equipment disinfection.
  • Inspect and calibrate equipment for proper operation and report malfunctions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient health information and comply with regulations.
  • Administer medications and document treatments according to regulations.
  • Complete continuing education requirements for licensure.
