About The Position

The Clinic Nurse in the Outpatient Oncology department is responsible for supporting the clinical team by managing patient communications, assisting with administrative tasks, and providing handson nursing care when necessary. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth clinic operations by addressing voicemail, ROI (faxes) and task box messages, managing CareSpace communications, and collaborating with other departments. The Clinic Nurse will also assist with overflow patient care, such as administering injections, and ensure seamless communication between nursing staff, providers, and ancillary team s.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program
  • Current, valid LVN license in the state of practice.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competence in managing patient communications and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) system s and experience with CareSpace or similar patient communication platform s is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a clinical setting, oncology experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to patient voicemails, task box assignments , faxes, and CareSpace messages promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure timely communication with patients regarding their care, medication refills, surgical/procedure clearance and appointment scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the clinical and administrative teams to address patient concerns and follow up on care-related tasks.
  • Set up blood and platelet transfusions at local outpatient facilities.
  • Consistently monitor Canopy throughout the day to ensure timely response to patient inquiries and clinical requests.
  • Promptly respond to tickets, provide follow-up communication with patients via phone as needed, and ensure tickets are properly closed or reassigned to the appropriate department for resolution.
  • Assist with patient care on the floor by helping nurses with overflow patients, particularly in administering injections and providing general nursing support.
  • Monitor patient flow and assist as needed to ensure timely patient care, especially during peak clinic hours.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by maintaining open lines of communication with providers, infusion nurses, pharmacists, medical assistants, and front office staff.
  • Act as a liaison between the nursing team and other departments to ensure efficient communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Handle email correspondences with infusion nurses, providers, pharmacy staff, front office personnel, and medical assistants to coordinate patient care and clinic operations.
  • Ensure clear, concise, and timely communication regarding patient needs, medication orders, and administrative tasks.
