About The Position
The Lunchroom Supervisor position at Peterson Elementary School is essential for maintaining a safe and orderly environment during lunch periods and recess. This role involves supervising students as they navigate the lunchroom, ensuring that they follow school policies and procedures while promoting a positive dining experience. The supervisor will assist students in securing their trays, food, and seating, and will be responsible for monitoring behavior to prevent and resolve any minor issues that may arise during lunch and recess. The supervisor will also be tasked with maintaining discipline in accordance with school and district policies, utilizing conflict resolution strategies when necessary to assist students in problem-solving during the lunch period. In addition to overseeing lunchroom activities, the Lunchroom Supervisor will report any student injuries, accidents, or illnesses to the appropriate authorities promptly. They will also notify custodial staff of any large spills and help maintain cleanliness in the lunchroom by ensuring table tops are kept clean. Collaboration with food service staff is crucial to ensure that the lunchroom operates smoothly and efficiently. The supervisor will also be responsible for implementing playground safety rules and procedures during recess, ensuring that students are safe while they play. The role requires a commitment to non-discriminatory practices and maintaining confidentiality regarding student information. The Lunchroom Supervisor must adhere to district guidelines for appropriate dress and display tact and courtesy when interacting with students, staff, and others. Familiarity with emergency procedures, such as fire and tornado exit protocols, is also necessary, as the supervisor may need to assist in implementing these procedures during a crisis. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the overall functioning of the school environment.
