About The Position

The position involves supervising and ensuring the safety of children during recess and lunch time at Encompass Heights Elementary School. The essential functions of the job include reporting consistently for work, performing other assigned duties, assisting in cleaning up spills, directing visitors, enforcing school rules, inspecting playground equipment, issuing discipline referrals, and monitoring student behavior. The role requires effective communication, record-keeping, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a commitment to student education.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • First Aid/CPR certification from American Heart Association, Red Cross, etc.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and learn new equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate record-keeping and document management.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team setting.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Special Education and associated legal requirements.
  • Experience in educational programming.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and ensures safety of children during recess and lunch time.
  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards.
  • Assists in cleaning up spills and wiping down tables.
  • Assists students in opening milk/juice cartons and food packages.
  • Directs visitors to the office.
  • Enforces all school rules of student behavior.
  • Inspects playground grounds and equipment, notifying school administrator of necessary repairs.
  • Issues verbal warnings, writes up discipline referrals, and reports misconduct.
  • Locates students sought by building administration and escorts them to the office.
  • Monitors playground and/or lunchroom to deter behavioral problems.
  • Checks all student passes and keeps students out of unauthorized areas.
  • Works with administration to develop and enforce security policies and procedures.
