About The Position

A Lunchroom Monitor is dedicated and responsible with a focus on ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive environment for students during mealtimes. Experience in supervising large groups of children with a high degree of patience, promoting respectful behavior, assisting with routines, and responding quickly to situations to maintain student well-being. Committed to supporting a welcoming school community while fostering a safe and enjoyable mealtime experience. Salary Status Flat Rate, 180 days / 3 hours per day Part Time, Non-Exempt Start Date Determined by Human Resources Reports To School Principal Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of student supervision techniques and school safety procedures
  • Understanding of basic food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
  • Awareness of child behavior and positive behavior management strategies
  • Ability to promote and maintain a safe, orderly, and positive cafeteria environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with students, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to observe, assess, and respond quickly and appropriately to various situations
  • Patience, empathy, and consistency when managing student behavior and group dynamics
  • Ability to follow and enforce school policies, rules, and procedures
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move around the cafeteria, and assist with cleaning and other duties required during student lunch periods
  • Commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports student well-being
  • High School graduate or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and directing student behavior during lunch periods
  • Ensuring a clean and safe cafeteria environment
  • Helping to distribute meals and monitor food safety
  • Reporting any issues or concerns to school administration
  • Intervening in potential conflicts or disruptions
  • Assisting students who may need help, such as those with special dietary needs
  • Assisting in cleaning up after lunch periods
  • Following and enforcing school policies and guidelines
  • Communicating effectively with students, staff, and administrators
  • Participating in meetings and professional development as required
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the dining area before, during, and after lunch
  • Engaging with students and promoting a positive eating environment
