About The Position

The Hackensack Public Schools is seeking a Lunch Assistant for the 2024 - 2025 school year at Jackson Ave. School. The position involves supervising students during the lunch period in the classroom and/or multi-purpose room, as well as during playtime on the playground, if applicable. The Lunch Assistant will ensure that all students adhere to the proper rules of conduct as determined by the administration and maintain appropriate safety standards in all areas of supervision. Responsibilities also include reporting any infractions of the rules to the classroom teacher, notifying the nurse of any accidents immediately, and directing the movement of groups of students to and from various locations. Additional duties may be assigned by the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during the lunch period in the classroom and/or multi-purpose room.
• Ensure students adhere to proper rules of conduct as determined by the administration.
• Maintain appropriate safety standards in the classroom, multi-purpose room, and on the playground.
• Report infractions of the rules to the classroom teacher.
• Report all accidents to the nurse immediately and inform the classroom teacher as soon as practical.
• Direct the movement of groups of students to and from the multi-purpose room, academic classrooms, and/or the playground.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
