About The Position

The Lumper is responsible for efficiently loading and unloading trucks, handling materials, and ensuring that products are properly moved in and out of the warehouse. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a cold storage environment, playing a critical role in ensuring that shipments are accurately processed and that the warehouse remains organized.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics role is preferred, especially in loading and unloading trucks.
• Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Basic math and reading skills for counting inventory and following instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Unload inbound shipments from trucks and containers, and load outbound trucks, ensuring all materials are properly handled to avoid damage.
• Sort, stack, and organize products in the warehouse or storage areas, ensuring that all items are correctly labeled, tagged, and accounted for in the warehouse management system (WMS).
• Build and wrap pallets according to warehouse standards, ensuring stability and correct stacking procedures.
• Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and report any discrepancies or damages to the supervisor.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the loading docks and warehouse areas, making sure materials are placed in their designated locations.
• Work closely with forklift operators to ensure efficient movement of materials within the warehouse, communicating clearly to avoid accidents or misplacement of goods.
• Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), particularly in cold storage environments.
• Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to meet daily operational goals and assist with other tasks as needed, including basic housekeeping and maintenance.
• Ensure timely completion of loading and unloading tasks to avoid delays in warehouse operations.
