About The Position

Join Our Team in the Yard! We're looking for a dependable, safety-focused Yard Associate to join our building materials team. If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and helping customers and contractors get what they need, this could be a great fit for you. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same - you'll assist customers, pull and load orders, operate equipment, and help keep our yard running safely and efficiently. Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Basic math skills and ability to complete forms accurately
  • Ability to safely lift and handle heavy materials
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office and general computer use)
  • Physical & Work Environment This is an active, outdoor position. Candidates must be able to:
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs
  • Team lift items over 75 lbs
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach overhead
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Operate forklifts and yard equipment
  • Work around dust, noise, uneven ground, and varying temperatures

Nice To Haves

  • Experience (Preferred): 6+ months forklift experience
  • 6+ months experience in building materials, construction, retail, or related industry
  • Class D driver's license with clean MVR (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to contractors, homeowners, and internal team members
  • Accurately pull orders by type, style, and quantity
  • Load and unload trucks and rail cars using a forklift
  • Inspect materials for accuracy and damage
  • Assist drivers in safely securing and flagging loads
  • Restock inventory and organize materials in proper locations
  • Complete required paperwork (orders filled, receiving documents, forklift inspections)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard
  • Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
