Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to assist customers in making informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle lumber and wood products.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Safety-conscious mindset.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.

  • Additional training or certifications related to woodworking or lumber products is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting clients in choosing the appropriate lumber and wood products for their specific needs and projects.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of various wood species, including their characteristics, strengths, and applications, to offer expert advice to customers.
  • Operate planers and straight-line rip machines to surface and prepare dimensional lumber according to customer specifications.
  • Help customers select the best lumber and wood products based on their project requirements, budget, and aesthetic preferences.
  • Efficiently process customer transactions using the point-of-sale system, ensuring accurate pricing and payments.
  • Monitor inventory levels and promptly alert inventory management when items are low in stock, ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and techniques related to lumber and wood products.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that woodworking machinery is operated safely and maintained properly.
  • Maintain records of customer transactions, including sales receipts and inventory counts.
