About The Position

Lube Technician - Kearny Mesa Subaru Non-Exempt Job Summary: A Lube Technician I is responsible for performing routine maintenance and lubrication services on vehicles, ensuring that they operate efficiently and reliably. This role involves conducting oil changes, checking and replenishing fluids, and performing minor maintenance tasks under the guidance of more experienced technicians. Essential Functions: Perform oil changes, including draining old oil, replacing the oil filter, and adding new oil according to manufacturer specifications. Check and replenish essential vehicle fluids (engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, power steering fluid) to ensure levels are within recommended ranges. Inspect and rotate tires based on manufacturer recommendations; check and adjust tire pressure. Conduct basic inspections of vehicle systems and components (battery, belts, hoses, lights) and report any issues to senior technicians or service advisors. Test drive vehicles after completing routine maintenance tasks to ensure that everything is functioning properly. Move vehicles around the shop to reposition them for further work or to make space for other vehicles. Maintain accurate records of services performed, including oil changes, fluid checks, and any additional maintenance or repairs. Interact with customers to understand their service needs, provide updates on vehicle status, and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Use and maintain automotive tools and equipment safely and efficiently; ensure tools are cleaned and stored properly after use. Document all work performed, including parts used and labor hours; maintain accurate records of repairs and services. Follow all federal, state, and local regulations governing automotive service and repair, including Cal/OSHA. Collaborate with other technicians, parts associates, and service advisors to ensure efficient workflow. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing protective gear and equipment as required. Maintain a clean workspace and satisfactory attendance. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an automotive service or maintenance role.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 30 days following date of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.
