About The Position

McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, and has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US. Join our team and help build the infrastructure of our community! We are looking to hire a full-time and skilled Lube & Parts Specialist to join our team in the Salt Lake City region. The Lube Technician will work very closely with our lead Diesel Mechanic to ensure all company vehicles, rock drills, and other equipment are properly lubricated and maintained. In addition, he or she will help oversee all drill parts, oils, greases, tires, hoses, etc., and may be asked to transport certain parts or inventory to operators in the field. The ideal candidate will be expected to perform minor repairs on vehicles and equipment. He or she will be physically fit, willing to work in a fast-paced environment, and will be expected to build positive relationships with our field staff.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test (safety sensitive company)
  • Clean driving record (no more than three moving violations within the last three years)
  • Must have reliable transportation to our shop
  • Able to work early mornings and long days
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions year round
  • At least 1-2 years of construction or mining experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in either construction, mining, or automotive maintenance and repair
  • Oil changes on trucks, fluid level checks, tire changes, lubrication of rock drills, hose repairs, washing equipment
  • Ability to learn how to operate, test, and perform pre-operational checklists on rock drills
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Can work weekends if needed
  • Applicants must reside within the Salt Lake City region to be eligible
  • Willingness to adhere to all MSHA requirements (prior MSHA training preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all company vehicles, rock drills, and other equipment are properly lubricated and maintained
  • Oversee all drill parts, oils, greases, tires, hoses, etc.
  • Transport certain parts or inventory to operators in the field
  • Perform minor repairs on vehicles and equipment
  • Properly document service reports and repair logs
