Support the full-time staff of the Office of Spiritual Development by completing professional administrative tasks to enhance and fulfill the department outcomes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist full-time staff with processing Serve Now trips. Provide administrative support in the management of Serve Now team members’ applications and required documents. Assist with the preparation, set up, and clean-up of Serve Now training sessions. Assist with planning and execution of all LU Serve events (e.g., Local Church Emphasis Day, Meal-Packing, Serve Lynchburg, etc.). Provide administrative support for all programs and events (e.g., service-learning, the Green Cord Campaign, etc.). Provide support through research and administrative tasks for the enhancement of new and existing programs and events. Assist with office administrative tasks that support hospitality to LU Serve’s guests. Assist with other LU Serve initiatives as directed. Work effectively and collaboratively as a team member, embracing and fostering the mission of LU Serve, the Office of Spiritual Development, and Liberty University. Schedule requires student worker to commit 16-20 hours/week during office hours. Additional information may be found here . QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience Computer knowledge, including MS Office Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service skills Work well independently and as a team member ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates. Strong organizational skills. Computer skills, especially Microsoft office; ability to learn new skills quickly. Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations. Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 25 or fewer pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate. Driving Requirements If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
